Tanya's Story

Tanya is an experienced facilitator and educator. She worked at a university-based non-profit for 5 years, serving the student community in Toronto, and then UBC. Following her ADHD diagnosis, she decided to explore a role where she could showcase her logistical and organizational skills as a Production Coordinator in the animation industry.

Tanya has a history of working with students of all ages. She tutored ESL students through a community program, helping them with school work, as well as adjusting to their new life in Canada. She has led cultural and art classes and provided support to hundreds of university students through her work. Tanya knows that each person is different and has their unique challenges. She helps students by guiding them to methods they can build on for the rest of their lives. She is known for being encouraging and light-hearted.

Struggling with executive dysfunction can often lead to exasperation and depression, and the tasks at hand can usually seem overwhelming. Still, with the right tools and systems in place, they become routine and manageable. Tanya has always been interested and passionate about building practical and easy-to-use systems in her everyday life, both at home and at work. She believes that given the right tools for success, anyone can reach their unlimited potential. This solution-based approach encourages accountability and proactivity from students.

Tanya believes that learning is a life-long, and joyous pursuit. Unfortunately, many educational institutions rob many neurodivergent students of this joy, herself included. Tanya seeks to preserve that joy and encourages curiosity, exploration, and connection in her students. Each person has their path to follow, and she is committed to equipping students with the tools to successfully navigate their chosen path with all it’s obstacles and challenges.

Tanya gets along with most animals and people and is an artist in her free time. She enjoys learning new skills and collecting hobbies such as cross-stitching, playing ukulele, beadwork, sculpting, photography and gardening, writing, singing, thrifting, posting wholesome comments on the internet, and making jokes, amongst many more.
